It's really hard to write a text about Martinis without mentioning James Bond. And there you go, we just did! Our stirred sapphire gin Martini has nothing to do with the Scottish intelligence officer, however, and everything to do with providing a treat for at least three of your senses in one go.
A good Martini lives and dies by the ratios of what's in it. We carefully blend citrusy London Dry gin and floral sweet vermouth for the perfect balance of complex sweet and moreish dry, then top up with a few dashes of colourful blue Curaçao for a rich orange backdrop.
This gorgeous drink carries itself with an air of grace and purpose, much like old mate James, when he's not beating up baddies and saving the world. Dammit, there he is again!
Made with
A lot of citrusy London Dry gin, about half as much French sweet vermouth, and just a few dashes of blue Curaçao.
How to serve
Stick it in the freezer for half an hour and pour into a stemmed glass. Add a splash of cold tonic if you want something more light and refreshing.
Make it fancy
Stick the glass in the freezer as well and cut yourself a nice long strip of lemon peel. Wrap the lemon peel firmly around something round and thin, like the handle of a spoon, to make a fancy spiral and place in the glass.
